Grosse Ile Rotary’s International Project in Mabini PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 17 July 2008

RC Groose Ile donationJuly 14, 2008, Magalong, Mabini. The Rotary Club of Hundred Islands (RCHi) in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Grosse Ile, D6400, Michigan and the Local Government Unit of Mabini, Pangasinan, launched the repair of the school building that was damaged by Typhoon "Cosme" in Magalong National High School, Barangay Magalong, Municipality of Mabini, Pangasinan on July 14, 2008.

Present during the occasion were Vice-President Nominee (VPN) Carlitos “Titos” Reyes, Rotarian Alimar “Ali” Briana, representing the Local Government Unit of Mabini while the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands was represented by President Henry Onia, Assistant Governor William “Iam” Chan, Immediate Past Vice-President Delia “Delz” Cardenas, Assistant Auditor Felicidad “Felicing” Montemayor, Rotarians Marcelina “Celing” Cabrito and Jeanne Rendon.

Last June 18, 2008, then Incoming President Henry Onia received an email from Miss Sandra Soedarjatno with the information, to wit:  “My husband is a member of the Grosse Ile Rotary in Michigan, District 6400.  xxx.  He was able to relate and put in perspective the devastation Typhoon Cosme had caused to a lot of lives in Pangasinan especially Mabini.  Through his help his club is donating a total of $1,400.00 for Mabini.  The money will be send to your club and in your name who I’m told signs the check.”

The amount was credited to the account of the club which was turned over to VPN Titos during the launching and the matter will be reported by the Hundred Islands Rotary to Grosse Ile Rotary.

The Hundred Islands Rotary hopes that this cooperative effort with Grosse Ile Rotary will open doors for more international projects in the future.

Photo of work in prgress and completed project will be posted as they are accomplished. Please stay tuned!
