NGA relief materials - DSWD (GI sheets) & MMDA (hardiflex boards) PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 July 2008

dswd gi sheets The basic necessities of man to have a normal and enjoyable life is food, clothing, and shelter. Last May 17, many families were temporarily deprived of these needs. Most Mabinians were affected by the intense anger of nature manifested by typhoon “Cosme”. Houses were blown down as well as their livestock and livelihood were damaged to the extent of zero production.

As early as mid-June, these were almost solved except for the restoration of homes totally wrecked. With this regard, last Thursday, July 10th, two trucks of LGU Mabini collected GI (Galvanized Iron) sheets from the office of OIC District Engineer Edgardo P. Paragas under the Department of Public Works and Highways of Alaminos City, Pangasinan.

This was requested by Hon. Mayor Titos Reyes and Vice Mayor Ali Briana last June 20 which are to be distributed to some 798 families from different Barangays of this municipality affected by the wrath of typhoon “Cosme” last May  17,2008. Their houses were totally destroyed and needed full restoration. This was made possible through DSWD Regional Director Margarita V. Sampang with the help of DPWH Regional Director Fidel D. Ginez. Actually, the requested amount of GI sheets by Ms. Teresa L. Ragudos, SWO IV of Mabini, Pangasinan as was assessed by the Municipal Engineer Racquel Estrada was exactly 11,954 GI sheets. As of this writing, they have accepted 1000 (one thousand) 8’ and 1000 (one thousand) 10’ both gauge 26 GI sheets which they stored and to be given later to our fellow Mabinians who were devastated by the typhoon.

mmda hardiflex boards Last Saturday, July 12, MMDA Chairman and Metro Manila Disaster and Coordinating Council (MMDCC) Secretary Bayani F. Fernando delivered 140 sheets of hardiflex which was kept at the storage room and to be distributed to our needy families affected by the said typhoon.
