Pangasinan PDCC releases complete list of typhoon Cosme's fatalities |

Dagupan City (2 June) -- THE Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) of Pangasinan has released the complete list of fatalities from killer typhoon "Cosme.
They are: Alberto Sacatropiz, Magalong, Mabini;
Francisco Cunanan, Cato, Infanta; Jesus Caric, Poblacion Infanta; Elpidio Maoile, Infanta; Maxima Madarang, Batang, Batang, Infanta;

Listed below is an excerpt from the Disaster Operation Status Report of the DSWD Disaster Operation Center as of Tuesday, June 18, 2008.
The numbers incidate that from a population of
29,505 almost 90% were affected, from 3,407 damaged houses almost 23% were
totally damaged. There was 1 death in Magalong and 4 injured (2 in Luna, 1 each in Brgys Cabinuangan & De Guzman).

TransCo completes repair of Cosme-damaged lines in Pangasinan |

Pangasinan (2 June) -- The National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) said it has restored power to all its customers on Wednesday following the repair and energization of its facilities damaged by tropical storm "Cosme."
This after Transco successfully re-energized on May 28 the latest remaining line, the Binmaley 2-San Carlos 69-kV line in Pangasinan.

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – National Transmission Corp. (TransCo) officials
in western Pangasinan vowed to restore power in 15 days in the
aftermath of tropical storm “Cosme.”
Engineer Gerardo Torres, manager of TransCo’s western Pangasinan branch
based in Labrador town, gave this assurance in a meeting of the
Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council yesterday.

Dagupan City (27 May) — ‘Twas the night when roofs of houses and buildings went flying like some magic carpets and trees were falling down like puny sticks.
Tropical storm Cosme’s ominous winds were felt starting in the afternoon of May 17, but no one perhaps not even PAGASA, expected the kind of disaster it would bring in its passage to become the worst weather disturbance to ever hit Dagupan City and the province since typhoon Gading in 1998.

It was late Saturday, May 17, 2008, when winds of rapidly increasing
strength blowing from the east started tearing off limbs from trees and
ripping off roofs from homes, I was thankful to make it home safely
across the river from Nibalew with my raincoat and helmet on, but I
was still worried that Tropical Storm Cosme is gaining strength and heading
towards the province.
