dswd_landbank In the next three weeks, the technical persons and validators headed by Dir. Margarita V. Sampang will move to Bolinao and Urbiztondo, Pangasinan to conduct the same validation activities to potential beneficiaries of the said Program.

During the launching held in Mabini, Pangasinan, ARD Marlene Febes D. Peralta emphasized in her message counterpart of the potential families/grantees on the program which are the conditions that they have to comply.

Cacupangan Cave Clean-up Campaign

cave cleanup In connection with the International Costal Clean Up Day last September 20, 2008, the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands conducted its share the following day, September 21, 2008 at the Cacupangan Cave, Tagudin, Mabini, Pangasinan.  The participation of the club in the international activity is unique considering that it was not a sea coast which was cleaned but a cave because the Municipality of Mabini, Pangasinan, is landlocked.

Mr. Patrick Gayapa, with the ever dynamic leadership of Ms. Gemma Cacas, one of the Regional Group Executives, will showcase a once in a lifetime opportunity to lend a help and assistance for the provision of school materials. The main venture is primarily to lenghten outreach programs to those who are in need of their assistance.

villacortaRiding in the cramp backseat of a municipal vehicle looking out through the window in search for cave entrances I miss during a ridgewalk, I am somewhat nostalgic. Daydreaming of riding again this partly paved barangay road, doing bunny hops on road cuts, negotiate a rutted section and downhills on hairpin turns, my legs all the way up to my hips felt uncomfortable as we near Villacorta's bario proper. As we were greeted by warm smiles from barangay officials and locals, my agony was sweep away.

PACKAGES OF CHARITABLE GIFTS FROM USA

donation A total of 11 balikbayan boxes arrived last 8 June and 8 July 2008 through Dr. Catherine A. Reyes, DMD, the better-half of our good Mayor, Carlitos Reyes. These were forwarded to the Office of the Mayor which were just recently distributed to the townspeople. The boxes came from the benevolent heart of our own “kabaleyan” and a daughter of Mabini, Dr. Marissa Braganza Catalan. Together with her husband, Tony Catalan and their children, she sent these packages right after learning that their hometown was greatly affected by typhoon “Cosme.” What is noble about this act is that though their house right here was damaged by "Cosme" they chose to help their townmates first.

perspective1.jpg The erection of a new and modern municipal building will soon start. As a matter of fact, the demolition of the old municipal building will start as soon as all the Department Offices including the Mayor’s Office vacate their respective offices which they are presently doing. Some temporary offices were put up at the vacant market stalls, some below the bleachers of the basketball court, and the Mayor’s Office is moved to the stage beside the Municipal Library.
